Windows 11: Minimum System Requirements for Microsoft Updates

Windows 11: The minimum system requirements now also include additional processors older than Intel that will be compatible with Windows 11 and the older requirements still apply.

Microsoft has updated the minimum system requirements for Windows 11. The company announced in a blog post that it was adding some additions to the list of compatible processors after Windows Insider tested and explored options with an OEM. The minimum system requirements now also include additional older Intel processors that will be compatible with Windows 11 and the older requirements still apply.

A few months ago, Microsoft unveiled some basic requirements to run Windows 11 on PC. You need a processor with two or more cores and a clock speed of 1 GHz or higher. It will also require 4 GB of RAM or more and at least 64 GB of storage. The computer will also need a TPM security version of TPM 2.0 and SecureBootCapable support.

This indicates that devices running 6th or 7th generation Intel processors may not be eligible for the new update. But some of them seem compatible.

"We analyzed a set of principles for computers running a 7th generation Intel processor that we did not initially include in the minimum system requirements." Microsoft said.

According to the company's latest blog, new additions to the list of compatible processors include the Intel Core X-Series and Xeon W-Series. The list now also includes an Intel Core 7820HQ processor, but only select devices running this processor are compatible.

Devices shipped with updated drivers based on the Device Support Application Design Statement (DCH) and settings are supported as Surface Studio 2.

Microsoft has also confirmed that there are no new add-ons for AMD processors. The company confirmed that it has carefully analyzed the AMD Zen processor in cooperation with AMD.

Users will soon be able to use Microsoft's Microsoft Health Check program to find out if their PC is compatible with Windows 11.

The program was also removed by the company after a joint response to the lack of information on the tool as to why the system could not run Windows 11.

“We will update the PC health check program to identify the correct system with the new system that Intel has added to the CPU in the near future. Weeks before the device is implemented. To be generally available.
