Darktide Is The Latest Foray Into The Grim Darkness Of The World Of Warhammer 40,000

 Darktide the follow-up to Fatshark's excellent rat-killing game Vermintide 2 gets a full 2-minute gameplay trailer.

In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there is only war. This has never been truer than it is today as fans of the Warhammer 40k universe have another chance to fight the forces of Chaos.

This year's Summer Games Fest was packed with announcements and game trailers. One of the games that found a place was Fatshark's Darktide their take on 40k grim dark sci-fi mythology. The two-minute-long trailer shows us what we're most looking forward to: the creepy and Satisfying combat filled with gratuitous monster killing.

The Coming of the Dark Tide

Darktide's story is similar to most stories in the Warhammer universe. Tertium is an ancient Imperial fortress that is being overrun by the forces of Chaos. It's up to the player and three comrades to fight the darkness and take back control of Tertium.

Stand With Your Brothers

Our Darktide story was also written by New York Times bestselling author Dan Abnett. It's no secret that Abnet is no stranger to the world of Warhammer 40,000. He has written dozens of novels about mythology including Horus Heresy Eisenhorn and Ghost of Gaunt.

His involvement with the latter two is perfect as they focus on ordinary people in the Warhammer 40,000 universe like the Undertide.

Rejects Will Rise

Players will be able to choose and customize between 5 character archetypes unlike the Vermintide game which has 5 different fully fleshed out characters. This time players can modify the character's appearance sound origin weapon skills and more.

Defend Against the Darktide

Don't worry though if you expect to miss out on some great banter between characters in Vermintide 2. The team at Fatshark has worked tirelessly with various voice actors to ensure players can still experience thousands of battle cry brawls and many more colorful throw.

Most of the footage so far shows the gameplay of the four prototypes. We have an Imperial Guard an ordinary soldier skilled in guerrilla warfare and ranged attacks. Another character is a "fiery fanatic" who wields a giant thunder hammer. We can also see a psyker Specializes in using The Warp's dangerous powers. Finally there is the hulking Oglin a massive warrior who can charge and kill enemies with ease.

Beware of Alien Mutant Heresy

The main antagonist of Darktide will be the corruption created by the forces of Chaos. Players will completely eliminate these horrors in first-person high-action combat. The group will parry with slashing slashes and otherwise decapitate or dominate their foes. The fight looks just as crazy Chaos as its predecessor it's something fans absolutely want.

Take Out Hordes of Foes

Likewise destroying an enemy seems equally satisfying. Every swing and swing of the chainsaw looks extremely painful and impactful. Even a simple combat knife used by Oglin was devastating in his massive hands.

Hordes of enemies mutant demons and cultists flood the screen at any time. Their wanton desire for destruction and death (your death) is a horrific sight. The enemy is literally like a dark current rushing towards you and slashing you to pieces.

Strike at the Heart of Chaos

While melee still looks like a huge focus as in Vermintide there's more emphasis on ranged options this time around. In Vermintide ranged weapons are just a way to snipe high-threat targets or a secondary form of violence. This time it looks like the gun will work Played an important role in eliminating chaos mutations.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Release

Darktide will be released globally on September 13 2022. The base game can be pre-ordered for just $39.99 or the equivalent in your region. Additionally players can opt for the Empire Edition for $59.99 The set will include class clothing weapon skins and cosmetics in the form of avatars.
